There is a young woman who falls for an pilot she spend the night with him and he flys off to war. Then she hears that he was killed and later finds out she is pregnant. She could not let anyone find out so she went out of town to have the baby. Later she returned and her plan was to put the baby on a doorstep of a family that had too many children.So she could offer to raise the baby,but of course the baby was given to a mom that had a stillborn. Then she watched her son grow up. Always around but never mom. At end of movie he "the son" joins the airforce but was At a dance asked "her" his mom to dance.
