We have oil heating in the house we just bought. The radiators work fine downstairs, but upstairs is FREEZING. The radiators use to heat up, but now they don't all the time. Every time the boilers goes on it sounds like water is draining in the pipes and I can hear it in the wall. Any suggestions? Thank you.

There is air in the system it sound like the upper radiators need the air bled out of them. It is not easy for me to tell you the best way to do it, hopefully there are little bleeder screws on the second floor radiators, that is the easiest to bleed.

We bled the radiators upstairs. Some air comeout but then nothing. I was expecting water to follow, but the radiator is still cold. The one in the other room up there does have heat coming out of it. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

Is the pump working? If the boiler sounds like it is perculating like an old time coffee pot the pump[ may be bad

No I think the pump is fine. All of the other radiators in the house are fine. I think there may be a block to that certain radiator. How would I fix that if that was the case? It still sounds like water is draining out of pipes from that radiator sometimes. I can hear the water going through the pipes in the wall downstairs.

What is the pressure? Should read 12-15 psi. Pressure reducing valve may be bad and not letting water into boiler.

If you bled radiators and air came out and than nothing,no water or nothing I will bet pipes are frozen...

Could the pipes be frozen if all the other rads work and I can hear water draining from them?
