Hi am new to the site from the UK:)

I am a damsel in distress trying to find out the reason why my old Honda Civic does not want to start.I had a new battery put in and it was running fine. Then one morning I turned ignition and nothing? My father came out to jump start it and it started no problems. Had the battery and alternator checked and I was told that wasn't the problem.
It has been standing for 2 days now and I got in it yesterday, lights came on on dashboard but still not firing up?
Today tried it and no lights on dashboard came on and it was completely flat.
Now I know its an old car I bought from new and its clocked over 141000 miles and I was going to have a winter service done? But unfortunately I cannot drive it and no one seems to know what is wrong and now I need some advice, can you help me? Thanks

You want to keep the car. A well-maintained Civic can go 350,000 miles. It's present condition is temporary.

. Remove the battery from the car and place it on a charger. Assess the condition of the battery by how the ammeter cuts back, after it has been charging for an hour. I'm suspicious that the battery is any good.

. Test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how to easily do it:

Here are some suggestions to help you get the next 210,000 miles out of your Civic:
