View Full Version : My dog eats too fast he chokes
Hi I have a almost 2 yr old min pin and when I feed him he eats so fast he chokes I don't know if I can do anything about this or if it is just something no one can control but just wondering if anyone had any ideas to get him to slow down so he won't choke anymore... the food he eats too is not very big pieces... and no one has ever taken his food away and the other dog neva eats his food... his food is in a different room so he shouldn't feel the need he has to eat it before someone takes it...

This is a common enough problem with Labs and Goldens, that my puppy raising manual has not one, but 2 easy, proven methods. Just spread it out on something such as a cookie sheet. Some of my friends throw it on the floor of the crate. Or you can put big rocks in the dish, so big no danger of swallowing them. Either way keeps the dog from gulping up one big mouthful after another.
Thanks a lot going to try it next feeding

My chihuahua had the same problem. I used rocks. Also, if you want, they sell these bowls called "brake fast"
