I am hearing different things from different people. I am 22 weeks pregnant and I wanted to know how many showers you are supposed to have and at what times?

One for each group of people that wants to throw one for you. For example--my sister had a shower that the family threw her, one that her girlfriends threw her, and one from the people at work.
You do NOT throw your own shower.
Generally people wait until your 7th month along or so to throw them, but it's up to the people throwing it when they want to.

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope all goes well for you and the baby.
Baby showers are not something that should be expected or asked for by the mother-to-be. Being given a baby shower is an honor. Some baby showers are given by friends and can be just for friends or for friends and include family. Sometimes, a family member will ask if they can give you a baby shower for just family members (these also may include close friends). Also as Synnen mentioned, your co-workers may want to give you a baby shower. Baby showers are generally given toward the end of the pregnancy but can be at any time.
Some baby showers include inviting the father and his family/father and his friends also along with guests you include. The person honoring you by giving you a baby shower may ask you for a list of who you would like to invite. It would be a good idea to ask about how many he/she is planning for, since he/she is the one providing the place and refreshments. Have a guest list made out with current addresses to give to the person offering to give the shower and it is nice to offer to address envelopes if you feel their time is limited.
Hope this helps. I am sure others will be posting here soon also.
Best to you, the father and the little one on the way.
