Pentecostal is basically nothing more than the full belief in the bible and ALL of it's teachings. These include being saved by grace, not through works, divine healing. Might I ask what is your background?

I am just not sure if this is a religion I would be able to adjust to.
Anything you can tell me would help me.

Hi, I think Pentacostals believe in the feasts or holy days as stated in the Old Testament of the Christian bible. I know that the meal Jesus ate with his disciples just before his arrest was the Passover feast. Some Evangelistic and Pentecostal Christians follow the seven holy days spoken about in Leviticus 23:5-36. As far as attire, dresses and long hair for women and all, I'm not sure. I am glad you have gotten this chance to really meet Lord Jesus. Keep an open mind and do some scripture reading on your own.

The Pentacosts here where I live do follow the stipulation of no pants/no cutting of the hair/no makeup.

People seem to be getting things mixed up big time. Pentecostal is a loose term encompassing several churches, including FourSquare, Assemblies of God, Southern Baptist. To find out what his actual church doctrine is you will need to do some research into his denomination. I have an acquaintance who's wife is Catholic, and they attend her church on Saturday night and his church on Sunday. Not sure how that works, as the Catholic church believes in praying to Mary, and the Bible clearly tells us differently. But, I guess you can work it out if you really want to.

I knew people that went to the Pentecostal church. They believed women could not wear pants ever, they couldn't cut their hair, no make-up, they could not speak in church and they had to be subservinant to the man. Not doing anything on the Sabbath but going to church. They tend to follow the Old Testament.

My mom attends one. No jewelry,no cutting hair,no T.V. or computer,no music other than religious, no shorts, pants or short sleeves do not show your arms, no makeup, no hair barrett's that are decorative, no hair cutting, no earings, no rings. No kiddie pool for the little ones, no dances, no playing cards, ball games ahh you basically can't do anything.
My sister and niece the above plus no chewing gum or drinking pop... but the men can smoke... they make excuses for that one.

They celebrate Christ's birth the ones I speak of believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. No christmas lights or trees or decorations of any type. The easter bunny is bad and halloween is worse.

Before you get into deep with this man visit his family, his church and keep your eyes open. Good Luck
*edit* and the religious music you listen to will have to be from other people that believe like they do or you will be worshiping the devil and being lead down the wrong path also you can't go to other churches with different beliefs.

First of all, to get an accurate answer, you would have to tell us which Pentecostal denomination. They vary widely from the very sound to the heretical, from those which might look, sound and operate much like a Baptist church to those which might seem quite foreign, from those with rigid rules, to those which might seem liberal in some areas.

Pentecostalism is not a denomination but rather a grouping of denominations which believe that supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit should be expected today.

Rest assured I am an apostolic pentecostal. We believe in all the normal holidays and stuff like that. We also have very strict rules for our members as pentecostals... if you hate wearing skirts you should avoid him lol jk. No you don't have to I wear pants but they are modest. Also if you like to show your cleavage not such a great idea if your shirt collor is farther than 4 finger length from your neck you shouldprobably change before he sees you. Seriously now pentecostals are really strict. I do suggest that before you attend his church that you read acts 2:38 so you don't get all freaked out when people are speaking in other languages. Any questions let me know

I have read some of the posts here and they are extreme in many ways

I am pentecostal, I was raised a catholic but found Christ in later life. Pentecostals are first and foremost born again, spirit filled Christians, what might be called charismatics in the Catholic Church but who adhere to a specific set of doctrines which include immersion believer's baptism, saved by grace, authority of the Bible. Pentecostals may observe some special days, Christmas, Easter, but generally would not recognise the literagical calendar followed by the Catholics. Generally Pentecostals recognise two sacraments Baptism and Communion but don't believe in the transubstantiation taught by the Catholic Church. Pentecostals believe themselves to be saints as indicated in the Bible and many have an expectation of signs and wonders in everyday life. (healings, divine provision, prophecy, falling under the power of God, communication with God) Pentecostalism basically arose following the Azuza Street outpouring in the early twentieth century. Some Pentecostal churches have rules regarding dress, etc so if you want to know what this person believes why don't you ask him. You may address specific questions to me and I will try to answer them

I work with someone who follows this cult, oops he calls it a religion. A couple comments above answered it properly. NO EASTER BUNNY, NO SANTA, NO HALLOWEEN, ETC. They are extremely narrow minded and say those holdiay listed take away from God. They feel women are their slaves and are beneith them. They do not have enough room in their hearts to celebrate God, Santa etc. They also feel like fasting or eliminating a certain food will bring them gifts or something they need (once he fasted in order to find a new location for his cult / or as he calls it church location. Beware...

Not exactly sure what you are talking about but the EASTER BUNNY, SANTA CLAUS, HALLOWEEN are modern day paganism and have nothing to do with Christianity. Christmas in its pure form is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, Easter is a celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Fasting is a Christian custom and may sometimes be a form of prayer, but is also a puriforcation, a way of focusing on spiritual matters.

You want to beware of something, beware of the world and superstition. Beware of customs and traditions which have supertitious rubbush as their basis. Beware of commercial exploitation!
