I got an IUD back at the end of August. Since then I have had lighter but longer periods. Now it is almost 40 days into my cycle. My home pregnancy test was negative. I know that sometimes your period disappears with an IUD, but do you not have any sign of it at all? No cramping or anything when it disappears? This is just weird! Any help would be appreciated! :D

When I first got my IUD my periods were really weird too. Longer, heavier or lighter, or my body got confused and forgot to do it. After about a year, they settled into a normal pattern. I was told that it is possible to get pregnant with an IUD inside you. Bleeding may not mean you are not pregnant. Not bleeding doesn't mean that you are.

Relax. Relax, relax. Stressing out is the last thing you need right now. Use a home pregnancy test every other month or so if you feel "weird." Your body is trying to get used to a foreign object. It will adjust. It is highly unlikely that you can get pregnant, but there is a very slim chance. Check to see if the string or cord is still there. Talk to your health care provider about your concerns.

When I got my IUD I never had a period, its almost a year and a half now... I kind of wish I had periods, at least I would know that I'm not pregnant... I haven't gone to any check ups, do you think I shoud? Also, I want to have another kid, but after I get married in 2014... my son will be 4 that December, and if I'm not pregnant by that December I will not be having one... So when should I take out my IUD to make sure that I can become pregnant after my wedding in July 2014?
