I am trying to install a hunter fan remote to a hunter fan. Nothing works.

The remote has a black (hot) line, white (common) line, fan in, light in and common lines.

Coming from the fan itself are a black line, black with white stripe, white and green line (ground).

From the ceiling I have a red, black white and bare copper line.

I cannot make this thing work... and the instructions are dismal... help?

Thanks.

Need to wire as if for a switch going to a light. Once that is done, acp unused wire in ceiling.
Then connect transmitter where wall switch used to be, and connect fan receiver to the wires remaining in ceiling. Make sure the codes match. Didn't hear a mention of receiver, usually black and white in, then white, black(fan), and blue(light) to fan wires(white, black is fan, and black/white is to light. Does fan have built in receiver?

Fan in to fan black, light in to fan striped, common to fan white.

Black (hot) to ceiling red. White (common) to ceiling white. If that doesn't work, connect black (hot) to ceiling black instead. Cap off the unused wire.
