You are supposed to keep all your posts on the same link.

((thanks t-top, it does glow fine. Could it be glowing fine but still have a problem with being too sensitive for monitoring the flame from age?))

This had been around the block many times.
All the help and ideas have been given you.
I suggest you buy the ignitor/flame sensor and install it. (the item that glows)

This is not a real expensive part and it just might take care of your situation.
These parts do not last that long any way so you would be replacing it eventually.
NOTE: Do not touch the end that glows with your hand. Avoid that at all costs. The oil on your skin will cause the new part to burn out in short order.

Let us know how it turns out after you replace that part.

I have no idea of any parts dealers in Cal.
You will probably have to buy at a HVAC shop OR Ebay.
