What is the best way to store (long term) a Dell all in one 922 inkjet printer?
Paper trays and cords are removed. It will be boxed and stored @ room temp.
Cartridges out or in? Any other prep before its boxed?

I would suggest removing the ink cartridges. Then I would but some drops of isopropyl alcohol in to the holes where the cartridges release the ink into the machine. I would let the alcohol sit in there for awhile and maybe add some additional alcohol drops. Then, I would take a cotton swab and wipe out where the alcohol had been in the holes. After that, I would blow out the holes with compressed air from an air compressor or from one of those cans that sprays air for the cleaning of electronic components.

That is what I would do anyway. Perhaps others might know of some additional things that should be done.
