I have paid child support for about 20 yrs. I asked to have it drop and the judge said OK and told me to pay the small amount of back child support I owed. I asked him was it fair to pay child support to the mother after she put out my (20 Yrs.) old daugther.she lives in another state and is on her own, since April of 2006? Along with this, the child support lawer did not give the papers to the mother on the day I had to be in court and now, I have to go back to court because he did not do his job in the first place and then the child support lawer drop 600 dollars off what the judge said I didn't have to pay (1800.00 to 1200.00) can the lawer do this and do I have grounds to sue?

What were the terms of the original child support order.

Normally, child support is expected through the end of High School or 18. If the minor child goes to college and the original plaintiff's attorney is worth his / her salt they will build in an extension to cover the time at college.

In your OP, you say that you talked to the judge and he said that it was okay? Did the judge issue an order to that effect?

What was your attorney's reason for not doing what you charged him to do? Yes, attorney's can be sued for malpractice.
