I am the Landlord. I have a rentor who is being harassed by their neighbor. They don't like renters.
The neighbor has called the police on their children. She has called the homeowners association with bogus reports. The wife of this rentor has cancer. They don't like going outside for fear of this neighbor. The neighbor sent a letter to them saying the whole neighborhood is against them for not taking care of the yard. The other neighbors like the tennants and that is false. My tenant fears of going out because of her.
I can write a book about this neighbor. What are my options? I am planning on filing a restraining order. Can I and the tennants file restraining orders against this neighbor? B

If the neighbor has called the police and lied, she could be charged with false informing. I think you are doing the right thing by seeking a restraining order. I'm not sure if you can or not, but I certainly hope so as this neighbor is out of line. A visit to a lawyer will probably help. You can probably get a free consultation.

It's so sad that he/she is acting this way, especially when the poor lady has cancer. I think it's understandable that someone might not have a perfect yard when dealing with the treatments, medical bills, doctor's appointments, etc.

In addition to the restraining order, perhaps you could organize a get-together for the other neighbors and these people. Maybe a cookout or something. If the yard is what is bothering the mean neighbor so much, maybe you could get some friends together and help them clean it up. But, if the neighbor is just blowing it out of proportion, then I suppose that won't help. But, my point is that maybe if this mean neighbor sees other people in the neighborhood socializing with the renters, maybe she will stop telling these poor people that no one likes them.

Good for you for standing up for your tenants! I wish there were more landlords like you!
