Have just upgraded to ADSL and tried to access a couple of game sites but when I try to enter a game am refused admission (did all the normal things register etc). Have been told by the SITE that I need to OPEN THE PORTS on my router. I have no idea what they are talking about and was advised to go to a site called portforward.com and bring up my particular brand of router from this site and follow the directions. (I tried this to no avail) My brand of router is D-Link DSL-G604T OPSys XP and I know my ISP set me up with a Dynamic IP. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to log into the configuration for your router. This involves going to the router's IP address using your web browser. Usually this is 192.168.1.1. Somewhere in there will be a place to set port forwarding. If you need more specific help call D-Link tech support. They have good and free 24/7 help.
