View Full Version : Bleeding a water well

My water pressure seems to go down for a second and then back to normal pressure. When taking a shower, the water will be normal pressure for a bit, then slow down for a bit then back up. Sometimes the water becomes much hotter then return to a more comfortable temperature. I have been told I need to bleed it. There is a hose on the well with a water shut off before and after the hose connecter. Do I open both and let the water run for a bit? There were some quicky instructions I found, that said to turn off power to the pump, let it run for an hour or so. I don't know how to shut off the power to the well/pump. Then take off the gauge. What is the purpose of taking the gauge off?

I called a well driller a month ago for servicing this. I still have not heard back. I guess they don't want to be bothered with this task. That's OK. I will find another well driller, if/when I need to replace this unit.

OK, I'll take a shot at this one.

1. There will be a breaker that shuts your pump off. Should be in your main electrical panel. It is a good idea to locate it anyway. Should be two breakers which are hooked together... "bridged".

2. How long are the intervals between high and low pressure in the shower? Just a few seconds or minutes?

3. What kind of pressure tank do you have... bladder tank?

4. Not real sure what you mean by "bleeding", unless someone thinks your pressure tank needs to be recharged with air.
