I'm am in the military currently serving in Texas. I was rejected for off base housing for having "too many collections". A review of my credit report showed that my wife opened up two joint credit cards (without my knowledge or consent) listing me as the primary owner. She maxed out the cards -- about 7K total -- and then stopped making payments. By the time I saw my credit report, payments on the cards were over 120 days past due. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THESE ACCOUNTS EXISTED!! Is there anything I can do to get these cards off my credit report? Friends say I'm pretty much screwed because we're still married. Filing for divorce is the next step, but will I still be held responsible for her actions?

If she forged your signiture, you call the police and report this as a stolen ID. You report this as stolen ID to the credit card sompanies.
If you do not once they get the judgement they can easily garnish you pay in the military.

Next I would file for divorce and get the court there to also declare her responsible for debt ( this is not reconised by the colections but you can go back to her if they do come after you)
