Hi,
Today, I noticed a splash of water on my dining room's floor. I looked above and noticed the ceiling had a brown colored circular shape, the size of a melon. It was an obvious ceiling leakage. I did some tests and realized the leakage came from the stand up shower. Water only drips when water leaves the drainage. This was discovered when the shower faucet was turned on and water was collected into a bucket, instead of allowing it to run down the drain. What can I do to correct this problem? My ceiling now has an opened hole, the size of an orange. The hole was a result of me poking to allow extra water to drip out. Please help!!

That doesn't tell me anything. If you have a custom tile shower the leak could come from water splashing off your body or the shower stream hitting tile grout that has shrunk and allowing the water to run down the outside of the shower pan and into the ceiling. To test the drain line do this. Remove the chrome strainer and block the drain off by blowing up a balloon and tying off the neck or simply jam wet rags in the drain to stop it off. Now fill the base with a few inches of water and check to see if moisture's coming through the ceiling after it sets for a while. If this is a manufactured base does it give a bit when you step into it? If so you may have a ruptured seal on the drain lip and this can be repaired easily by the homeowner. Let me know. Tom
