I have a three-stall garage in my Mesa Arizona home. I'd like to add a wall and make a 10'x20' hobby room and leave the remaining 20'x20' garage space. Since the temperature in my garage can reach 120 degrees in the summer, I'll need to air condition the new room.

There are no windows in the space and cutting a hole in the wall is not an option since the main entry to the house is on the other side of the exterior wall. I'd like to install a mini split but there are too expensive. Would it be possible to add a wall mounted A/C unit to my new wall and vent it into the remaining garage space? This option would have a bonus because it would be easy to return the area back into a garage by simply removing the A/C unit and wall without patch large holes in the exterior walls.

Thanks,
Travis in Mesa

Yes it will work they make a through the wall unit(or window unit) that doesn't need a condensate line ran. The water from the evaporator is thrown against the condenser coil and evaporated.

The 20 X20 portian of your garage is going to get very hot, it could even got to the point that the AC would cut out on high head preasure.
