Hi,

I've just bought a stargazer semi-permanent pink (magenta) colour rinse, the dye is ammonia free . My natural hair colour is medium brown but I got blonde highlights in it three months ago and they are still growing out. I want to put the pink dye in but I don't want my hair to be two different colours, so I was going to put a semi-permanent medium brown hair dye in first (my natural colour) and then put the stargazer dye in over it; I don't want to bleach my hair first because it is my first time using a pink dye so I don't want it super bright. I'm just not sure whether putting the brown hair dye in first will somehow mess my hair up or have some weird affect on the pink dye? So I was hoping to hear your opinions?

Thanks :D

I have a feeling that a mixture of pink and brown makes green, so... better check that first before you dye or you may wind up with green hair.

Sweetie, unnatural hair dyes such as pink may not show up on dark hair. If you want your hair to look pink, you would have to apply the color on light hair or bleached hair. But I don't recommend applying it over your blonde highlights. A semi-permanent color can become permanent on color-treated hair. I recently had a member who used a pink semi-permanent hair dye on her blonde hair, and her hair has absorbed the color which left a permanent tint. Now she will need to have a corrective color job done. So you should think twice before using the stargazer pink hair dye on your hair.

Hi, thanks for the advice Tickle and PrettyLady! I am just curious, I'm trying to figure out from the colour chart, normally pink over dyed blonde turns brown does it? So if I did dye my hair, the blonder bits are more likely to be darker? Thanks :)

You might want to read my previous advice over carefully. If you apply a pink hair dye on blonde hair or chemically lightened hair, it will turn your hair pink... not brown.
