Hey everone.

Someone told me that drinking a lot of water can prevent headaches.

Is this true?

I don't think so but I just came to ask the Experts haha.

If no, what can prevent headaches?

It can if your headache is caused by slight dehydration... but it all depends on the particular cause of the headache.

Yeah, I agree with J_9. If you are dehydrated, yes drinking water could help. But, your headaches could stem from something else. For example, vision problems, stress, too much caffeine, the list goes on and on. If you don't drink your 8 glasses a day, try doing so and see if your headaches go away. If so, then maybe you have found the cause. If not, see a doctor to rule out a more serious cause.
Avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine help prevent headaches. Also, getting plenty of fresh air and some exercise each day will help. Make sure you are eating a balanced diet and getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need. Your doctor can help you find out if you are. Good luck!

Water is often a big part of it. Minerals are also. If the body doesn't have the correct mineral balance, or is deficient in one or several mineral(s), headaches can be a result. As an experiment, you might try having your fluid intake be from only water, fresh vegetable juice, and/or herbal (non-caffinated) tea. Do this for a couple weeks and let me know if it helps. Be sure your water is well-mineralized. Himalayan crystal sea salt is excellent for your water.

Headaches are often a sign of dehydration. But I don't know that the reverse is definitely true, that drinking water will prevent headaches as there are other causes of headaches besides dehydration.
