After 25 years of marriage, my husband decided to move to the other side of the US to take care of his 82 year old mother. He has 7 siblings. Our 18 year old daughter just started college.Do I have grounds for abandonment? Patticake02

So you want to split up with him over this??
Come on, its his MOTHER, and this is your MARRIAGE.
You can be serious that you want to end your entire marriage over something like this.
He didn't abandon you because he wanted to take some time out to take care of his mother. After all, would you do it for your mother?
This is your marriage, put a little more effort into it than that.

If you cannot understand his concerns, then answer me this, does he still support you and his family? Pay bills? If so this is not abandonment.

If he is supporting you, it is not abandonment. It could be something else.

Does he know how you feel about him being away? Is it possible to go stay with him for a while? Are you talking often? He may feel that his other siblings are not capable of the level of care that his mother needs.
If you're thinking, and feeling abandonment, has he abandoned you? His mother will not be alive forever. Is he planning on coming back?
