I am 14 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have not gained any weight yet, I have actually lost a pound or two. I did not throw up or anything during my first trimester, although I was nauseous a lot. Should I be concerned? Is this something I should call my Dr. about?

I would suggest calling your doctor if you have any questions. If you don't feel something is right, no matter what it is, you call your dr.
When is your next visit?
It is still early and there is probably nothing wrong, you may just gain in the later months. I have had friends that didn't gain until they were 5 or 6 months along. You would have never known they were pregnant for most of the pregnancy.

When pregnant I usually lost anywhere from five to ten pounds in the first trimester and gained it back in the second and third. It is not abnormal to lose weight in the beginning of pregnancy just talk to your dr about it if you are really concerned. Your dr should be able to put your mind at ease.

If you are continually going to the doctor trust he is monitoring your weight. This web sight Pregnancy, Parenting, Trying to Conceive at Justmommies (http://www.justmommies.com), or some other message board for pregnant women. They will set you up for essage bord for babies due in the same month as you. It could be a very helpful tool. But I would not worry. Many women gain very little weight, everyone is different. Try out the message boards to eas your mind and know one thing, the doctor is aware and is keeping track, That's his job.

Its not uncommon to have lack of weight gain, and even weight loss in the beginning of the pregnancy. Provided its not a rapid and huge amount of weight loss, or you continue to not gain weight farther into the pregnancy, you should be fine. This is one thing we always seem to find ourselves worrying about... in the beginning we worry that we aren't gaining enough, and then by the end, we worry that we have gained too much ;0) if you are really concerned, speak with your doctor about it. However, if your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't be either.

My last appointment was Nov 29th and I don't go back until Dec 28th. At my last visit my Dr was not concerned at all. I just thought it was kind of weird. This is my second child - my first was almost 6 years ago. I have already started showing a little so that confused me even more. I thank all of you for your responses, you were very helpful.

I lost 15 pounds in my first trimester, and like you, I was very concerned. Talk to your doc, but my doc told me that the baby takes what it needs from me, which is why I was losing weight because I did not have an increase in appetite until I was about 5 months along. Now I am 39 weeks and I have gained 20 pounds, but also keep in mind that everyone is different!

I can see how that could be confusing. Showing however doesn't always have much to do with weight gain. When you show, its mainly because of the size of baby and the size and position of your uterus. Some women show fast then others, despite weight gain. Some women gain a lot of weight, and its harder to tell when they are showing because of the weight gain. So women take longer to show because of the position of their uterus, such as a tilted uterus, where it sits farther in their stomachs, therefore taking longer to show. I am sure everything is fine. Once you reach mid second trimester, things should start picking up for you a bit, and the last tri is when you put most of the weight on. In the first half of the pregnancy its all about development of baby, the last half is about putting weight on baby, and the maturing of lungs etc.
