I have installed recessed lighting in part of my home and it works just fine but when I tried to wire the last two the lights stay on when the swith is off. The last two have a black, white, ground and red where does the red get connected two why doesn't this work?:mad:

Lets go back and make sure we are on the same page. If all the lights are on the same line you can't make the last two stay on when the switch is thrown off. The wire to the switch is a switch loop and brings power to the black wire going to all lights. . If you want the last two lights to always be lighted they need a separate black wire that is not part of the switch loop. You could tap off the black that leads up to the switch, that wire is hot 24/7.

We really need more description of your circuit. Where is the source of power? If you have a black, white, bare cable feeding the circuit, if you connect the red to that black and to the lights you always want on, they should be always on. The black is connected to the switch, and the other side of the switch to the lights you want to control with the switch. I see nothing in your post to suggest it must be a switch loop. In a switch loop, you run power to the light. From the light, you run a pair of wires to the switch and back to the light. You can also run the power to the switch, and then on to the light.
