No, that isn't the problem... I'm sure many people have concevied between Thursday and Sunday before lol.

2 years is a long time to be trying. Have you gone to see a fertility specialist? Maybe you should consider it.

Also be sure to be taking prenatal vitamins... they are VERY important.

That very well could be the problem. He may not be around when you are ovulating. You see, while sperm can live in a woman's body for around 3 days, once we ovulate the egg is only viable for fertilization for 18 - 24 hours. If you ovulate when he is on the road, this may very well be why you are not getting pregnant.

And, yes, all women in their childbearing years should be taking a multi vitamin that contains folic acid.

The only possible connection to his job that might play a factor that I can think of might be the clothing he wears and sitting in the seat for long hours... if those things combine to raise temperatures which might lower the sperm count? Does he drink or smoke a lot? Low sperm count could easily be ruled out with a doctor's visit or fertility specialist.

Oneguyinohio: He doesn't drink a lot neither do I he doesn't smoke either.

J_9: thank you I believe that also, just don't want to give my hopes up and something's wrong with one of us to where we can't conceive.

mjl: no I haven't been to a fertility specialist I was thinking of going to one to check.the vitamins I take make my throat burn any recommendations on what to do about that? Thank you.

If you are considering pregnancy, and you have been trying over 2 years, it is wise for BOTH of you to get in for a fertility check-up. At least this way you will know if it is related to his job.

The vitamins make your throat burn? Do you take chewable or swallow vitamins?

Hope I didn't sound like I was accusing him or anything. I didn't mean it that way. Those were just a few things I learned about when trying to conceive my son...

I hope I can share a quick story with you about that time... When we were trying for the pregnancy, we had some friends who were selling those ozone air purifiers... well we bought one, and so did another family... all three of the families had children at about the same time... and the kids all now go to school together!

I agree that you can't get pregnant if you are not ovulating... but they have been trying for 2 years! If she only sees him between thursdays and sundays I'm sure on some of those weekends in the past 2 years she would have been ovulating.

But we don't know what her cycles are like, so we can't say
no, that isn't the problem

Without taking a complete history and doing an exam, we cannot say one way or the other what the problem is.

You see, medicine is not an exact science... We who are in the medical field literally "practice" medicine.

I, as a nurse, or you, as a layman, cannot tell a person for sure what is going on within her body. We don't know, and many times the doctors don't know.

You see, there are people who take us as actual experts... doctors... etc... We have to be very careful in what we say, and how we handle certain situations.

It is very possible that this site, including us (me, you, or anyone who answers) can be named in a malpractice lawsuit if we give incorrect information. By saying "no, that isn't the problem" you are practicing out of your scope of practice, because you don't know this to be fact.

The medical field is a very sensitive field wherein we have to be extremely careful in how we answer.

After reading everything, I have to agree with J_9 100%. It IS possible that even over the course of 2 years, they have not been timing in correctly with her ovulation.

Wiltina, I would recommend becoming familiar with the signs of ovulation. There is a technique you can read about in "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler that will help you identify when your body is most fertile. It would also benefit you to talk with a doctor and confirm there are no underlying issues.

I thank everyone whom responded it helps out a lot and J_M that was a nice story to share :). I was starting to get a bit worried that I wasn't going to able to conceive... I will be going to the doctor as soon as my health insurance clears through to see what him and I could do about it.

You can also track your cycle at Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - FertilityFriend.com (http://www.fertilityfriend.com) This site will kind of help you to know your cycles better and inform you of when your best ovulation time is. Also, most women run a twenty eight day cycle. This is the same length of time that it takes the moon to go through it's phases. I know that I will normally get my period when the moon is full so I know approx two weeks after that I should ovulate. It's a rough estimation way of charting but sometimes it works. I also don't believe that out of two years you didn't ovulate on the weekend if you have a regular cycle. So a dr check up is definitely going to be worth it for you.

This could be very normal. Many women's periods are irregular... stress and illness can delay them quite a bit.

The things you are feeling could be anything at this point... a head cold, allergies, PMS, even pregnancy.
