I have a Janitrol HTP 1860 thermostat now. I recently acquired a Honeywell TH6220D.

I hooked it up and all seemed to work fine. I turned the ac on tonight and after about 5 inutes noticed it was blowing hot and the unit outside was not on.
Turned it off and waited and did it again, this time I noticed the handler kicked on first rather than the unit outside, and it still was blowing hot.

Im pretty sure I hooked everything up the same way. Only conclusion I came to is that this thermostat will not work with my unit.
Does anybody have any suggestion of a good basic digital thermostat that will work?

Is a shame as I`m sure the honeywell wasn`t cheap,, double=triple check and be sure you have installed the honeywell correctly,

If you have a furnace + A/C, you may not have jumpered the RC and RH. The yellow may not be connected to Y.

If you have a heat pump, we will need more details. Also see https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/heating-air-conditioning/heating-cooling-maintenance-repair-troubleshooting-frequently-asked-questions-58313.html

To be completely honest with you, I'm not sure if it is a heat pump or not, I believe it is though. Ive only been in the house for about 4 months and never really looked into it. But I will check out the FAQ's.

There are enough new home owners that aren't sure if they have a heat pump, that Northern Heat covered telling if it is, in his sticky. Good man. Wish we were seeing more of him now.

Heat pump thermostats take more care to wire.
