I would like to turn over my maternal rights to husband to let him adopt my kids. Can I do this on my own? I filed my divorce on my on and was wondering if I could do this as well. I didn't know location of him. Being the person he is it is a safety issue for us.

What in the world are you thinking??

You say it is a safety issue and yet you want him to adopt the children? Does that make any sense to you? Are these children his biological children? If so, he does not need to adopt them - they are his children. Why in the world would you turn over your children to man that you do not know where he is living? That means there has not been physical contact with the children. Am I right?

What is really going on here? You left out quite a bit of details here.

I think what's going on is that she wants her husband to adopt HER kids from a different biological father.

Honey... you need a lawyer for this. This is too complicated and your children's future is too important to risk mistakes.

You don't want to sign over your maternal rights--you want your ex's paternal rights severed, and your new husband to be able to adopt, right?
