scorch

My boyfriend grabbed me and made a bruise on my wrist he then the following day went to the police and told them I hit him! And he got a restraining order!!

We went to court for the restraining order and we are allowed to talk via phone and email and I am allowed to have it dropped after 2 months.

The police called me in and I had to make a statement against what he said about me - I had a report from the Doctor and the police have told me that I will be arrested for "Breach of the Peace" and he will be arrested for Assault and Breach of the Peace - neither of us have records or been in trouble before - and I have been told that they may just send us to mediation and dismiss - can someone advise me on this - I am in the state of CT if that makes a difference!

Many thanks

Yes I know I am stupid - but my concern now is the charges and if they will be dropped or not as we have no previous?

Sometimes it is hard to understand why someone does this - I will move on I know but right now he has left me in a world of hurt and pain and no home to boot!

I doubt if the charges will be prosecuted since this is a he said/she said thing. I think they talked about charges to scare you. Move on, let the restraining order lapse and get on with your life.

I agree - the Police are probably trying to scare some sense into you.

Your boyfriend set you up once; why would you let him get another shot at it? I know you are hurting but, boy, I wouldn't trust this guy as far as I could see him. Next he'll be talking to you and bruising himself and dragging you back in.

As far as restraining orders - I never see a problem. If I'm not bothering you in the first place and you spend the time and effort getting an order against me it's not going to have any effect on my life and the way I live.
