Okay, I'll say it upfront: This is a dumb question, so I appreciate your help and please keep your laughter to yourself :)

We're looking at a faucet and side sprayer for our kitchen. The plumbing has not been put in yet and the holes for these items will be drilled through the granite, so will not attach to the sink.

My question is:

Do some manufacturers make faucets and side sprayers so that they can only be used together? Or, can we purchase a side sprayer from one manufacturer and a faucet from another manufacturer and won't have any issues with installation/function?

Below is an example of faucet and side sprayer we are looking at. Both can be purchased separately, and I want to be sure that if we end up purchasing just one of the components from them, we won't have problems if we purchase the other component from another brand.

Franke KSD - Faucets (http://www.frankeksd.com/productdetail.php?prodid=303&node=11&group=77&lvl=2#)

Thank you.

First it is not a dumb question. Granite is expensive and you do not want to make a mistake. So it is best to think about the situation several times before you make a decision.
Now a lot of the different companies make there spray hose connections universal on the cheaper faucets but on the more expensive faucets they seem to have their own style of connection and a hose from another company will not work. This may not be the case in all brands but I would make sure that they would interchange before I bought either, the faucet or the hose spray. Now there is another thought, most of the spray hoses have a connection on the spray head end that will fit many different spray heads, But there again I would be positive before I purchased any faucet. Most display houses would be glad to show you or your plumber how the different brands are made and if they will work together.
