Hello, I upgraded my OS from XP home to XP pro and now I have no sound I have a HP computer. When I go in to sound and audio devices it tells me (No audio device) I have not added a sound card to this computer so I don't have a CD it install drivers. Dose any one no what I can do to fix this? Thanks Sean.

This sounds like a driver issue. If you post your HP's model number I'm sure we can find the driver.

There's even a decent chance that if you run Windows Update, that it will find the sound card drivers and install them for you. Last OS change I made to my HP I didn't even have to install sound drivers, Windows update did it for me.

The HP hp is (sr1703wm) I was thinking all I had to do was run windows update too and that did not work.

Well HP provided very little help. Looks like the system is actually a Compaq. I know HP owns the name, but HP still makes a distinction between the two. That being said there are several possible drivers and they seem to be based on the system you purchased not he model number.

Standard for most of their computers in this model can be downloaded here.

Realtek (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC)

If those drivers do not work then it is probably a Creative Labs sound card and you will have to go here.

Unfortunately you have to know which CL card you have. Hopefully you still have some of the paperwork or something that can help you.

If someone has a better way to find out feel free to speak up.
