How do you find out the charge on an element?
And also which elements come in pairs?

First Of Remember That There Is No Charge On An Atom... the Elements Co,ming In Pairs Are Due To Covalent Bonding... rest Plzz Clarify Your Question

The charge of an element is either a posotive or a negative and most periodic tables have them on they will be next to either a + or a - for them to bond the positive and negative charges must be equal. E.G. H2O hydrogen has one positive charge and oxegen has two negative charges this means they are not equal so will not bond. All you have to do is add another hydorgen attom this makes it equal so then it is 2 hydrogen attoms to 1 oxide attom.
They come formes in pairs as they are bonded at the start and you can not split them up.
