I have an approx 6 month old water tank from Sears. It is an enclosed Pilot setup. The pilot light keeps going out I can start it to heat up the water but then it is usually out I have to start it multiple times a day. I checked the vent cleaned it and it kept doing it called sears and they said there is a filter on the bottom inside the other vent to take a wire brush (whole lotta room to get in there Right) Did this now I cannot get the pilot light to light at all

If you or a friend have a very powerful shop-vac you can turn the gas off to the water heater and disconnect the vent pipe at the top of the heater. Stick the hose from the shop-vac into the hole in the top of the heater and seal it with rags or something, now turn on the shop vac and let it run for four or five minutes. If you can get into the inside filter with a bottle brush or something similar brush the vent as the blower is blowing. This is not a guarantee to work but I have use it many times in the past and it worked most of the time.

Be careful what you do or try,, don`t want to void the warranty,, I know several that has dealed with sears,, they can be cruel
