My septic (effluent) pump runs about 5 times a day. This started about a week ago. I think it is my back-up valve. How do I remove and check valve? After I am finished how do I ensure that my pump is primed and working?

Does it have 2" piping? is there a 2" valve in line? What type of pipe? Do you have any leaking fixtures or other water running into the sump basin? Is the check valve white with 2" nuts or black with hose clamps?
