My name is Audra and I'm a freshman in college. I'm currently rooming with my cousin who I've pretty much grown up with. Her whole life she ate normal and maintained a normal weight. However, since we've started this new experience, I've noticed a drastic change in her eating behaviors. She will go throughout the day with only eating a bagel or a bowl of ramin. I can always hear her stomach growling and she will only have a few bites of something. Not only is she not eating, but when she does, it's something unhealthy. When we go home, family members notice her weight loss but she lies and says she eats. She is a very private person but has made comments to other people about how loose her pants are now. You can only imagine how hard this is for me to see especially since I've struggled with eating disorders in the past. I don't know what to do now or if I should tell someone. Please help. Thank you.

You should tell someone. She obviously has a problem. Try telling her parents.

Expressing your concerns may or may not be a good idea( I think this might be better addressed by a professional, but you be the judge)

How did you feel while going through your episodes with eating disorders? Would you be responsive to her asking you about how or what you were doing during those times? If not, try a school counciler, therapist, etc, you know who to deal with, her or them, BUT you should do it soon, the sooner the better for your well being and hers.

Hope this helped,

Ken
