Hi,

I have been convicted for a DUI (11 years ago) and wet reckless (2 years ago). I have recently had both expunged, and now I would like to travel to Canada. When Canadian customs checks my record, will they see anything related to these offenses, and do I have to admit to them that I was arrested, or can I just answer "no" without getting in trouble for lying?

Thanks!

Hello doinkus:

When your record is expunged it is NOT removed from POLICE view. That doesn't mean the Canadians will see it, but they sure might. I wouldn't lie to 'em.

As I understand it, after talking to my lawyer, wet reckless is entered into the record as a reckless driving conviction, but it counts as a prior DUI if you get a subsequent DUI. Insurance companies only see reckless driving...
