I am finishing my basement and need to add outlets and light swithches. I already have a wire coming from the main power box to a junction box. I am going to run 4 outlets of this line. Do I have to run outlet to outlet or can I have all the outlet wires come back into the junction box? If so, how do I configure the wires.

I would do shortest runs, and maybe no junction. I would run power to a switch location, with an extension ring to allow room for wires and dimmers or switches. Then from that box to first light, then light to light. Also have a run out of switch box to receptacle, from that receptacle to next receptacle, you may do that again to go around the other side of the room. If you need 3 way switching for light(switched from 2 locations) then run from that first switch box to second box.

Since this is a basement I would suggest at least two separate circuits, one for lights and one for outlets. If an outlet breaker pops you will still have lights. Wiring a Basement E-Book (http://www.electrical-online.com/basementwiringebook.htm)
