Hey guys.

I have a living room fire that is a blow heater with low and high settings and a flame effect that automatically comes on when the heater is on.
In the past the light which is a Fireglow bulb(60w painted red) went off so I initially thought it had blew but when I lightly tapped the heater, the light came on(?? ). Overall though the bulb has lasted 3 years.
Recently it went off but no amount of tapping or knocking sorted it. I undid the front panel and the bulb wash blew. I then bought a two pack of exactly the same bulb and wattage and put it in. when I turned it on it came on and immediately went off again. When I inspected it the fine filament... http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee231/marc-knuckle/fg.jpg
Had come unconnected. I tried the second and exactly the same happened.

Any ideas appreciated.

Could be cheap bulbs, or a loose connection in the lamp holder.
Check the lamp holder for any loose connections. Also, look at the bottom of your bulb, it may have a small hole--which means the lamp holder is the problem. If you find that this is not the problem. Try buying expensive bulbs--they have stronger filaments.

Just my two cents!

Years ago, I solved a flickering light problem in my house by replacing the GE bulbs with Brite Tyme ones. So much for expensive bulbs. Of course now I have gone mostly CFL.
