My grandson, who was breastfed exclusively until 10 months old, has had swollen lymph nodes in his groin and neck since ever since he was just weeks old. He also has severe itching and ezcema on his skin. He was put on Neocate at 10 months and this has helped a little. However he cannot seem to tolerate any foods at all. We stay away from gluten, milk and egg products which cause him agony. He eats mostly rice and sweet potatoes. Yesterday, we made muffins from an allergy free cookbook and he had a horrible itch night. We know that he is hungry and asks for food. He is on the low percentile for height and weight.
He can't sleep through the night and wakes up itching and throwing his little body around until he is exhausted. Steroid creams and Benedryl are the only relief... sometimes.
The doctor's haven't been able to help, only to say that his test results are unusual.
We are at out wits end as this problem.
I am very concerned about his lymph nodes never going down.
We have taken him to gastroenterologist, who wants to do a scope procedure, and an allergist who wants to try a stronger steroid.
I think that something is being overlooked. Can it be something more serious than allergies or eczema? Any suggestions? Thank you for your time and for doing this.
