View Full Version : Kitchen Outlet Stopped Working

I have a Kitchen outlet on a far wall that feeds a second outlet. Both have stopped working. There is no power to the primary outlet even with all breakers on.

I have replaced both outlets with new ones. I by passed the only GFI (crimped the black load to the black feed and white load to the white feed). Still does not work. The GFI does have power.

Breakers have all been reset. Any chance it could be a faulty breaker?

Are there tools to tone out the line (I know there are for Networking and Phone work)? So I can trace it back to the source. Since I have no power I am not sure if these outlets are on the Kitchen circuit (I assume they are, but it is an old house). Being able to trace them to either a power source or the correct breaker would help.

Thanks
Nick

What you need is a voltage tester, and most likely you have a loose connection in either the black or white wire somewhere between the panel and the first outlet.

With a voltage tester, you can confirmed power at the breaker, and at each connection point in outlets or junction boxes.

There are circuit tracers for the purpose of tracing lines. Do not use a tone generator unless you are sure the circuit is dead.
