My relationship with my ex spanned from NOV05-MAY06. He had been going through a number of financial difficulties. I had loaned him money on various occasions, and bought plane tickets for us to see his parents before he was to deploy to Iraq (which didn't end up happening), which he was to pay me back for. In total, since we broke up, he owes me approx $1300. He still had financial issues up until I DEPLOYED to Iraq in Late 2006. Because I'm overseas, he has stalled and stalled, and lied about sending my mother payments, and he broke contact altogether about 5 months ago. I was powerless overhere to really do anything about it. I have NUMEROUS emails stating that he is financially indebted to me, but nothing notarized (etc.)
Can I take him to small claims court? If yes. As I return to the states in the next few months, he will be deployed here, to Iraq. What is the best way to handle this situation regarding getting my money back?
