I have replaced the distributor and timing belt on my 1989 Honda Accord with a carburetor and it will only run with the distributor turned passed the stud mounts. I have made sure that the belt was replaced at top dead center.

Get in with USER and PASSWORD, use these actual words, go to very bottom link in the next page and drill down to your year and model and engine to change the timing belt and see if there are any pics of which terminal on the distributor cap is #1, I think it is the lower left when facing the cap from the fender side of the car.

Your mechanical timing is off or the plug wires are not indexed properly. You are using the same distributor, correct? I will guess that you did not touch the dizzy and you did not pull the plug wires off it either so all that should be good to go?

Can you explain what timing marks that you used on the cam and crank please.
