The s video port is only capable of showing video input no sound.
For a windows vista edition connect the output of the computer to the s video input of the television and hit the FN and F5 key simaltaneously till you see the picture on the television.
Alternatively one can right click on the desktop and in the graphics option select the output to go to the television.
Make sure the resolution is set to 600*800.. many televisions are not capable of showing the picture if the resolution is high.
For televisions that have only one vide input and an s video input the video1 signal is the svideo signal and is shared by both with video1 input only so when you change the input and see no no s video while toggling through the television auxiliary inputs that's because both the s-video and the video1 input share the same input.

Have you researched other options besides the S Video hookup? Sorry, my forward projector uses a regular VGA connection so I watch my PC on my 80" screen with the sound through the home stereo system Kliptsh Pro Series LaScala speakers, the entire neighborhood gets to watch and listen too.
