I have a bryant gas furnace. It was installed in May of 1995.

It appears that the blower kick on first. Then the burners are lite. The burners run a while and then turn off but the blower stays on. Then the burners are lite again. The burners run a while and then both the burners and the blower turns off.

Is this normal operation for a furnace.

Thanks for any help.

Clean the pilot sensor.

I will look on the internet to see where the pilot sensor is located. I like the pilot lite via a tube. Is the pilot sensor close to this. I lite the pilot light each year.

What is involved in cleaning a pilot sensor?

Is this something that should be done by a professional?

Thanks for all of your help.

The furnace you have must be older than a 1995 model if you have to manually lite the pilot. Did regard the cleaning of the pilot sensor.

Check you air filter to be sure it is clean to start with. Make sure all register vents are open. It seems like your high limit may be going off causing the blower and burner operation problems and I am just making sure nothing is restricting the system.

I want to thank you HVAC1000 for your help.
Your suggestion was right on the money. The problem I was having was caused by the air filter. It was NOT dirt but I bought a more thicker air filter. The thicker air filter said it was more effective then flat panel sun glass filter. And it was a ASHRAE Rating MERV8. I replaced it with a thinner Flander Precisionaire Air Filter that I have used before and it started working like normal.
The blower comes on, then the burner is lite, and then the burner goes out off and the blower runs for a few minutes more and then both are shut off.
Thank you again for you help. It saved me an heating / Air call.
Have a good holiday.
