Due to my husbands relocation we had to rent a property in Glasgow over the internet withhout being able to view it before hand. The landlady had used images which ha been taken many years ago to advertise the property. There are many things wrong in this house and there is only one smoke alarm, and I was not shown a gas nor electrical certificate, neither an intinnery. The heating in the main Bedroom does not work and there is some very weird lightening in the bathroom, which must be illegal, it has a not on it do not use when showering or the bathroom is steamy.

I was so upset and disgusted with the place that I nearly wanted to divorces my husband and go back home to Suffolk. Nevertheless we managed to buy a nice house very quickly and we will move into that property in about 3 weeks. My Question is does the tennacy agreement becomes void as the house is in such a state or do I still have to pay rent for another 2 months as statet( to give notice 2 month before) in the tenancy agreement. Please help as I rather go to court then pay this greedy woman another penny.

Did you rent this property through an agent or privately ?
Have you raised you concerns and has anything been done about them ?

Yes indeed I have made her aware of all the shortfalls and her husband has at least fixed the leakage under the kitchensink but everything else has been left, we have no working television arial , can't even run a proper bath, no lightbulbs on the stairs, no curtain rails, the list is endless. An agency would not touch this property. I know that as we have let our property in Suffolk through an agency, they were very strickt.

I would get in touch with Consumer Direct and via them Trading Standards and file a report of false advertising for starters.
