I need to know if anyone knows for a fact or ever gotten a diploma from ashworth university. I just enrolled and just received my materials to be a veterinary assistant. I was so excited about it, until my mom told me that back in her day she tried taking the same correspondence course and she dropped it because she found out they weren't accredited. It made me have second thoughts. But I went to their website and it does say that they are accreditted, but I don't want to drop it because I really want to work with animals. Do you actually think that after I get my diploma that hospitals will honor it? And what if I want to transfer my credits to my college? I live in Florida and I'm going to broward community college.thats what worries me. I really don't want to waste my money. If you have any ideas please tell me. My first bill won't be due until dec 19 so I have time to decide if I want to cancel the course. If you have any information about ashowrth let me send it to me so I don't worry. Thank you all:confused:

In Florida, recognized regional accrediting agencies include the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on School Improvement, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Western Association of Colleges and Schools. In the state of Florida, the following accrediting agencies are recognized: National Council on Private School Accreditation (NCPSA) member agencies; the Florida Council on Independent Schools (FCIS); and the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS).
The Florida Department of Education has a toll free number - 1-800-447-1636. Call and ask about your program. They would be the ones to know.

Many acredited colleges don't always accept all classes from other accredited colleges. So before wanting to transfer credits, you need to check with the school you want to go to, so see what they accept.
Often many schools will say they are accredited by this or that agency, but sadly that agency does not mean much.
The info given above is corect. One rule is to always go to the US Dept of educatoin web site, they have a search for accredited shcools, if they are not listed there, they are not
