I have either a framed print or etching that I found recently. On the back is an old paper glued on that says it's a "genuine original signed by the artist". The artist is Van Zeeland & the title is "After The Storm". On the front, the artist did sign it in the lower right hand corner. On the upper right corner it says "copyright 1936 Camilla Lucas, NY, USA. There are also some markings on the lower left side in an upside down triangle. It looks like S I L. There's also what looks like a french name as well.
Any idea on the history of either the artist or Camilla & maybe a value?
Thank you.

You might want to have a look on the following link.

A quote by Curlyben from the link:
Generally, prints by Mr. Lucas seem not to reach very high prices.

Any info on the artist, Van Zeeland? The print was copywrited by a woman, Camilla Lucas.

Did you click on the link that I provided in my post above yours?

It seems to be hard to locate on the Internet, information about the artist, Van Zeeland. That doesn't mean that it's not out there, it just seems to be hard to find. You might try the following search words and see what you can find. Another resource would be books concerning art at a public library. Maybe someone here will come along with the information about the artist that might be available on the Internet.

I just read the info on the link. Thanks. I'm a bit "computer challenged", but get by. Have been doing some research & found a website Phyllis Lucas Gallery - The Old Print Center (http://www.phyllislucasgallery.com) that you might find interesting. Sydney & Phyllis Lucas ran "The Old Print Center" in NYC. (His mother was Camilla). When Sydney died, Phyllis kept running the shop. Now since her passing in the 1960's, the son Michael has kept it going. The site says that it was the 1st North American publisher of Salvador Dali's lithographs & he was a frequent visitor to the shop. Since I live on Long Island, I intend to stop by the shop when I go to Manhattan. Apparently, Michael really enjoys talking about the shop & it's artwork.

Also, there is a website Antique and Collectible Mall: TIAS.com: Antiques and Collectibles (http://www.tias.com) that's selling 2 Paris Etching Society etchings by the artist Pierre for $250. Each!

That is good that you found a couple of sources concerning Camilla Lucas prints and that the potential for the monetary value of them might be more than what some might expect. But, have you found anything about Van Zeeland, the artist? If you have, then that would further benefit others who are inquiring about works by him here.

I haven't found ANYTHING AT ALL about Van Zeeland. But I won't give up! Maybe "After The Storm" was his only work, who knows?
