We have a 1 story house with 1 and 1 half bath. Lately the sewer has been backing up during a shower sending big powerful bubbles up the toilet IN THE BATH WITH THE SHOWER, water leaking out of the base of the other toilet and water backing up the sink and tub. The water stops up totally and when I open the screw top to to outside pipe in the front of the house the water flies out bubbling and such. We rented a big powerful sewer snake and snaked out the line to the street for roots but every few days it happens again. When it happens I can use a manual push through type of pipe snake and push the clog out to the street with ease. When I used the powerful snake I went far enough out to the street to hear the snake hitting sitting water. What can I do next? I think the niebors are wondering what I'm doing soaking wet in the front yard piping out the line furiosly with soap running down my face.  Also I want to add that this used to be a one bath house and we had the other toilet added and put a wall making 2 small baths. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time-:) Tom

It sounds like a root problem to me. Roots most often occur at the street raiser where your sewer connects to the city. I have remedied this by digging down and regrouting the joint. As for the roots let me give you some relief until you can do the repair. RootX or Robics Foaming Root Killer that contain Dichlobrnic are two products you could try.
A less expensive way would be to call around to garden supply stores and ask for fine grain Copper Sulphate. Put a 1/2 pound in your toilet and flush it down. Repeat in 6 months.
Hope this helps Tom

Ok thank you. I will buy the root killer today if I can find it. I have a question still though. If after I snake the pipe manually and its clear. How does taking a shower completely clog the pipe enough to back water up my tub/sink and where are the bubbles coming from in the toilet? They don't seem to smell. I guess I don't understand what makes the clog air/water tight enough to not even drain a little bit when a few minutes ago it was draining without any bubbles? What's at the end of the clog? It's like Im showering, everythings fine, I soap my hair and BOOM blurpblurpblurp, I have to shut the water down RIGHT AWAY and then it becomes a water tight complete block off sending water back up the sink and won't clear until I remove the cap out front, let it bubble out and then snake the easy clog again. I really appreciate this help.

Have you thought of having a sewer crew send a camera down the line to see exactly where and what the problem is? Tom
