For free... Why is it so much to ask to know where you came from? Your parents most likely don't know your WHOLE genalogical past... Why do sites charge for this? Is there a free site? Is there some other way that I can find where I came from?:)

Hi, chihuahuamomma!

Remember me?

Do you have a lot of older relatives who live nearby?

Do you live in the town where you were born?

No.

Is the town where you were born within a reasonable (say a day) driving distance from where you live now?

Since what age have you lived where you do now?

NO! LOL. It's about a day FLIGHT. And I've lived here for about three years. So about 18.

Do you or have you gone to a church for any length of time? Did your parents or your grandparents?

ChihuahuaMomma

You know that I am trying to help you find records of your relatives. Do you know if any people from the church that was torn down started a new church?

I know. No, that was so long ago...

I was probably 8 or 9...

THe only real information I have is names and birthdates and birtplaces...

Are you wanting to find the names of relatives on both your father and your mom's sides of your family? Have you checked with any other relatives to see if they know if anyone outside of your immediate family has done any research about your relatives?

You know, that all of that researching can take you to many different places and can take up an enormous amount of time. My families history on my father's side of the family is so well researched that about the only things left to uncover is the "dirt." My mother's side is not so well researched.

I would like to know of family more on my father's side than my mothers...

Like I said that only relatives that I have are cousins and my sister, who is half, not my father's daughter.

None of them have had any luck.

Have you ever tried putting your last name in a Google search followed by the words family tree? It could be that somebody out there has done some research and you just don't know about it. The names you know of people who are ancestors of yours just might be on some kind of list that you don't know about. You might even be on a list somewhere in someone's family tree.

I just did, and it all lead back to Genealogy, Family Trees and Family History Records online - Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com)

And they ask for money.

Try Rootsweb.com It's pretty good. I started with my dad's name and a guess on his birth... now I've gotten so far into it I don't know where to stop. On rootsweb I found my 3rd cousin, who gave me loads of info. Oh, another one... findagrave.com... it lets you search cemeteries for names and also sometimes has an email of the person that posted the grave or cemetery. Ancestry.com has a deal going on right now for 2 weeks free, then you just cancel before then.. it lets you look up birth/death records and SS records and census records. Hope this is helpful... good luck

Have you read the information on the two sticky's that are at the beginning of the Genealogy section of this site?

Findagrave.com is cool!

There people who are fond of doing it. Just to find how did they exist. Let's just consider it as their hobby:) MyHeritage - Free Family Tree - Genealogy (http://www.myheritage.com)
