I am in the same boat as your husband, I am looking for a job too. Here are some hopefully helpful websites, maybe you can find something here :
Find jobs. Network. Build a better career. Monster works for me. | Monster.com (http://www.monster.com)
Yahoo! HotJobs - Thousands of jobs. Find the right one. (http://www.hotjobs.com)
craigslist: columbia, SC classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events (http://columbia.craigslist.org)
Good luck! :)

Ask yourself: if you were moving to your current area, how would you go about getting a good HVAC job? The resources you'd use will be similar in Columbia.
I went to Yellow Pages Local Directory - YELLOWPAGES.COM (http://www.yellowpages.com) and entered "air conditioning" and "columbia, sc"; it returned 566 hits. I'd work through that list, visiting web pages and trying to find the names of owners/managers. Call them - personal contact is one of the prime ways to find a job.
I also googled "columbia sc employment" and found a number of sites in the Columbia area that provide job listings. That's always a good source of current job listings.

I know that Nestle has a ton of jobs in many different areas. Hopefully something for your husband is in there (I just did a quick glance at it.) One of the previous posters mentioned 566 hits! Maybe you can narrow things down by going directly to some of the companies' websites. Give their Consumer Products Jobs (http://nestlejobs.com/) page a try and see what you come up with.
Good luck with the jobs search and the move!
