HOW DO I FIGURE THE CUT AT THE END OF A ROOF RAFTER WHERE IT SITS ON THE SILL ON A 2/12 PITCH ROOF?c
How do I figure the cut at the end of a roof rafter where it sits on the sill of a 2/12 pitch roof?

The easiest thing to do here, wouldn't be to explain it, unless you've seen it done or have a speedsquare or carpenters square you want get it, so best thing for you to do is go to Lowe's or home depot or wherever, and pick up a speed square, this is a fast way to get angles, you can position the square on the edge of the rafter and turn it till is reads 2/12 pitch, it will show you the angle and tell you the degree cut it is also. You can also find the cut with a carpenters square by having one side of the ruler at 2" and the other side at 12". The speed square will come with a book on how to do all this, its very simple with pictures. There also cheap around $10 or less.
As far as the sill plate , your cutting 1 1/2" up and 3 1/2 out . But its on the same angle as the rafter cut is.
