My baby got his first two teeth less than two months ago. They appear to have black vertical streaks on them. He has very little sweets except for the fruit in his Gerber baby 1st foods, and his formula. He had breast milk almost exclusively until 4 months of age, and a 50/50 combination of breast milk and formula until 6 months. He is now 8 months old, and is on formula exclusively. We don't think it's bottle rot, but are unsure what else would cause this discoloration, which appears mostly in between his two teeth. Does anyone know what else this could be, or how to fix it?

Did you take any medications during pregnancy? Specifically hight doses of Iron or possibly Tetracycline?

Have you tried brushing them? Don't use toothpaste with fluoride though!

Flossie agrees: could be high iron, can't imagine an MD prescribing tetracycline to a pregnant woman

If it was prescribed in early pregnancy before she even knew she were pregnant there is still a risk of this.

My son has the same thing. We have an appointment on April 7th, 2011; did anyone figure it out? I am so stressed out.
