I am an Air National Guard Member who was injured while deployed. I had surgery performed by a civilian surgeon.

My commander recently gave me a letter ordering me to sign blank medical releases of information for Line of Duty Detemination immediately. However, the Line of Duty has already been accomplished and signed off by legal and the commander. Thus, I refused to sign blank medical releases.

I want to know who is releasing my medical information and why. Can I be ordered to sign blank medical release forms?

Please remember the military is under different rules than non military world. I would not refuse to sign, but ask to speak to a military attorney on base before you sign. You don't ever want to just refuse to do anything in the military, that is a sure way toward a article 15.
